Race Day Limo Hire from Manchester – Haydock Park, Chester & Aintree
Dressed up, prosecco poured, nobody drawing the short straw to drive
Manchester sits within an hour of three of the best-known racecourses in the North: Haydock Park off the M6, Chester inside the Roman walls, and Aintree with the Grand National. A race day is the one occasion where the limousine earns its keep twice – once on the way there, when eight or sixteen of you in your race-day best are not squeezing into taxis or trying to park, and again at the end, when the racing finishes, the car parks empty at once and your chauffeur is waiting at the agreed spot. This page covers how race day limo hire works from Manchester, the three courses and what each is like to reach, which vehicle suits your group, and when to book.
- Haydock, Chester, Aintree and further afield
- Executive stretches for 8, Hummers for 16
- Full-day hires or there-and-back
- Return collection when racing ends
How a race day limo booking works from Manchester
A race day is a long hire by limousine standards, and that changes how it is planned. Most groups book one of two ways. The first is a full-day hire: the limousine collects you late morning, the drinks are open on the way, it drops you at the racecourse entrance, and the same vehicle and chauffeur are waiting when the last race is run to take you home or into town for the evening. The second is a there-and-back: a one-way run to the course with a separately timed return collection, which suits groups who do not want to pay for a vehicle to stand idle through six races. Either way, the pick-up time is set by the first race and the route, and the return is agreed before you get out of the car.
Race day pricing starts where all Manchester limo hire starts: from £365 for a one-hour classic stretch. A run to Haydock for eight on an ordinary Saturday sits near that end; a 16-seat Hummer to Chester on a festival day with a return at seven sits well above it. What decides the figure is the vehicle, the hours between the first pick-up and the final drop, the date – festival days and summer Saturdays are priced for the day – and the distance from your pick-up to the course and back. How those four factors build a quote is set out on limo hire Manchester prices; send us the meeting and we will give you the exact number.
Dress-code days deserve a word of their own. Ladies Day at Aintree, the Chester May Festival and Haydock's summer evening meetings are dressed-up occasions, and the vehicle is part of the picture: an executive stretch with a bar and room for the hats arrives differently from a minibus. Groups that spend the morning getting ready together in Didsbury, Prestwich or Worsley want the photographs on the driveway, the prosecco poured as the limousine pulls away and nobody's heels anywhere near a clutch pedal. The chauffeur holds the bags and the umbrellas, which in the North West is not a small point.
A limousine also solves the end of the day. Racecourse car parks empty in one wave after the final race, taxis are scarce and the trains are standing room. A pre-booked return means your chauffeur is already at the agreed collection point when you walk out, and the group can carry on into Manchester – a restaurant on King Street, the bars of Spinningfields or the Northern Quarter – rather than losing an hour at the exit.
Haydock Park
The home course for Manchester racegoers, at Newton-le-Willows between the M6 and the M62, around half an hour from the city and closer still from Wigan, Bolton and Salford. Flat racing through the summer with Saturday fixtures and evening meetings, jumps through the winter. The evening meetings are the most-booked limousine race days we do: a 5pm pick-up, racing until dusk, then back into Manchester for the night. Easy for a long vehicle, with a drop at the course entrance and a straightforward collection point.
Chester
The oldest racecourse in the country, on the Roodee inside Chester's Roman walls, about an hour down the M56 and M53 from south Manchester. The May Festival over three days is the fixture everyone wants, with summer Saturdays and evening meetings close behind. The course is in the middle of a busy city, so the chauffeur drops at the racecourse approach and the return point is agreed in advance; a full-day hire with time in Chester afterwards is the usual booking, and the drive back up the M56 is where the day gets talked through.
Aintree
The Grand National festival in April brings three days of racing to north Liverpool, with Ladies Day the dressiest and busiest. From Manchester it is the M62 and the M57, around an hour on a normal day and longer on festival days when the whole of the North West is heading the same way. We plan a generous margin, drop at the designated coach and limousine set-down, and agree a collection well clear of the crush. Aintree Hummers and party buses are booked months ahead; ask early.
Which limousine for a race day
Race day groups divide by size and by mood, and the fleet follows. For eight, the executive stretches are the natural fit: the white Chrysler C300 Baby Bentley, the Audi Q7 and Range Rover stretches and the Porsche Cayenne limousine all have the bar, the leather and the presence that suits a dressed-up day, and they take a racecourse approach road without drama. A classic white or black stretch Lincoln does the same job at the lowest price in the fleet. For a hen party race day the pink Lincoln or the pink Hummer is the usual ask, and for a 30th, 40th or 50th the Baby Bentley with a restaurant booked for the evening is the shape most groups land on.
For twelve to sixteen – a big birthday, a works day out, a stag or hen that has grown – the Hummer H2 and the Ford Excursion and Lincoln Navigator stretches keep everyone in one vehicle, which matters more on a race day than almost any other occasion because the group is together from the first drink to the last race. A party bus does the same with standing room, and for corporate hospitality at Haydock or Chester an executive stretch or a pair of 4×4 limousines from a city-centre hotel is the booking that looks right outside the owners' and trainers' entrance.

The race day calendar from Manchester
Fixture dates move from year to year, but the rhythm of the season does not, and it decides how far ahead you need to book.
The Grand National festival at Aintree – three days, with Ladies Day the most requested limousine date of the spring. Hummers and party buses for Aintree are booked from the turn of the year.
Book earlyThe Chester May Festival over three days, the fixture that fills the executive stretches. Haydock's flat season is under way, with the first Saturday meetings.
FestivalSummer Saturdays and evening meetings at Haydock and Chester, music nights after racing, and the hen and birthday race days that make up most of our summer bookings. Saturdays clash with the wedding and prom calendar across the fleet.
BusiestHaydock's big autumn Saturday and the last of the flat season at Chester. Quieter for limousines than high summer and a good time for a corporate day.
Jumps racing at Haydock, including a Boxing Day fixture and the winter Saturdays. Midweek and winter meetings are the most keenly priced race days of the year.
Best valueThe Manchester limo hire calendar shows how race days sit against proms, Christmas and the other key weeks that tighten availability across the whole fleet.
Booking a race day limousine
When you ask for a quote, tell us the course and the meeting, how many are travelling, where the first pick-up is and whether there is a second, and whether you want the full day or a drop with a timed return. Say if the evening carries on in Manchester afterwards – it changes the vehicle we suggest and the time we hold it for. With that we confirm which limousines are free for the date, agree the set-down and collection points at the course, and fix the price before you book. Drinks on board are fine for passengers aged eighteen and over; glassware and ice are provided and a prosecco package can be added. Race day questions
Race day limo hire Manchester FAQs
Which racecourse is nearest to Manchester?
Haydock Park at Newton-le-Willows, between the M6 and the M62, is around half an hour from the city centre and less from the west of Greater Manchester. Chester is about an hour down the M56, Aintree about an hour along the M62 on a normal day.
Does the limousine wait at the racecourse all day?
On a full-day hire the vehicle and chauffeur stay with the booking and are waiting at the agreed point when racing ends. On a there-and-back booking the limousine drops you and returns at a set time. We will suggest whichever is better value for your group and the meeting.
Can the limo drop us at the entrance?
Each course has its own arrangements for coaches and chauffeured vehicles, and the chauffeur uses the designated set-down for the meeting. On festival days that can be a short walk from the gates, and we agree the collection point before you get out so nobody is searching for the car afterwards.
How many people can travel together?
Eight in a classic or executive stretch, thirteen to sixteen in a Hummer H2 or a 4×4 stretch, and more in a party bus. For a mixed group that will not fit one vehicle, two limousines travelling together works well and is quoted as one booking.
Can we drink on the way to the races?
Yes, for passengers aged eighteen and over. Bring your own or add a prosecco or champagne package; glassware and ice are on board. The chauffeur will keep anything you leave in the vehicle safe for the journey home.
How far ahead should we book for Ladies Day or the Chester May Festival?
As early as you have the date. Festival days are priced for the day and the larger vehicles go first; for Aintree and Chester we would suggest booking by the turn of the year, and for an ordinary summer Saturday at Haydock six to eight weeks ahead.
