H2 or H3? The only Hummer decision that matters

Every Hummer enquiry in Manchester comes down to the same question, and most people ask it the wrong way round. The H2 and the H3 look similar from the pavement; inside they are different vehicles. The H2 is the full-size stretch – the one with the long wraparound seating, the bar running the length of the cabin and room for sixteen. The H3 is built on the smaller Hummer and stretched for eight; it has the same stance and the same lighting and sound, but it drives and parks like a large stretch limousine rather than a small coach. Choose by headcount first and budget second, because an H2 with six people in it feels empty, and an H3 with ten people in it is not legal.

Read the price rows the right way round. Filled, the H2 is the cheapest luxury seat in Manchester because sixteen people share it; half-empty, the H3 is both cheaper and better. If your numbers sit between nine and twelve, a 13-seat Excursion or Navigator stretch usually beats either Hummer on price, and we will say so when we quote.

Where a Hummer can and cannot go in Manchester

City centre

Stadiums and arenas

Hummers are a fixture on match days. Sir Matt Busby Way closes to traffic before United home games, so the H2 sets down on Chester Road; at the Etihad the approach is via Ashton New Road, away from the cordon. Co-op Live and the AO Arena both have designated coach and limousine drop-off zones that a Hummer uses without issue.

Schools, estates and driveways

Prom pick-ups are where length matters most. A cul-de-sac in Timperley or a school entrance in Worsley with a tight turning circle can be impossible for an H2 and fine for an H3. Manchester Airport and hotels

Both Hummers are built around the journey rather than the destination. Expect leather wraparound seating, a bar with glassware and ice buckets, fibre-optic and LED mood lighting through the ceiling and bar, a sound system with Bluetooth or aux input for your own playlist, privacy glass and a partition to the chauffeur. Many H2s add a starlight roof, mirrored ceilings and screens; the 8-wheelers have more floor space between the seats, which is what makes them feel like a lounge rather than a car.
