Known as South of the River, South London is the area of London south of the River Thames. South London is less built up and has more open parks and public places than North London.

South London is made up of the boroughs of Greenwich, Lewisham, Bexley, Bromley, Croydon, Sutton, Southwark, Lambeth, Wandsworth, Richmond (though this is the only borough which straddles both sides of the Thames), Kingston and Merton.
